The open water season at Chatfield Gravel Pond goes through October!
- Swimming Times: Monday & Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. Tickets will be issued to violators.
- Parking must be in the Kingfisher lot or the lot to the south of the pond. There is also an additional lot just to the east of the Kingfisher lot across the bridge. No parking will be allowed on the sides of the road as the Park is trying to revegetate the area after some construction work. Tickets will be issued to violators.
- Each swimmer must have with them proof of membership into a permitted club. This means you must bring your COMSA card to the lake. You could be ticketed if you have no proof of being with a permitted club.
- Swimmers should swim to the west of the pond and leave the east side for the divers.
Because open water swimming in the gravel pond is not part of the state park system's mission statement it is considered a special activity. Special activity permits can be revoked at any time. The head ranger at Chatfield has stated the open water swimming permit for the Gravel Pond is being jeopardized by people not following the rules. Please take into consideration when you are swimming at the pond that your behavior effects the entire triathlon community. The pond is a triathlon treasure that we need to protect to ensure its use for many years to come. Please make sure you have your COMSA card in your swim bag when you are using the pond. Chatfield State Park thanks us in advance for our cooperation. Have a great open water swim season!
