2010 Track Season Workouts by Phidippides Track Club
Weekly track intervals designed to improve running techniques and speed are held every Tuesday, March through October, 5:50 to 6:45 PM. A group of Phidippides members meet at 5:20 PM in the parking lot for an EASY 2 Mile Warm Up in the reservoir. If you are recovering from an event the previous weekend please still come to track as there will be objectives for a recovery workout.

Directions to the track: We run on the rubberized Belleview Elementary School track, located between Cherry Creek High School and Cherry Creek Reservoir. To get there, go east on Belleview Avenue off of I-25, cross Yosemite Street, and turn north on Dayton Street. The track is on your left. Park in the school parking lot (but please don't enter the school buildings). We'll be there each Tuesday evening from March through October.
Warm Up: 1600 easy jog followed by 3 laps of striders if you can't make the 5:20 PM warm up in the resevoir.
March 2: 2 Mile Time Trial for group placement w/optional repeats TBA to make workout longer*
March 9: Early 8's - 8 x 800*
March 16: Fun with 4's - 12 x 400*
March 23: Butterfly Hill Workout - 12 x quarter mile uphill repeats/quarter mile downhill recovery intervals*
March 30: Pyramid - 400 800 1600 1600 800 400
April 6: 3x (200, 800, 400, 200 longer rest)
April 13: 1600 X4 neg split the intervals by :05
April 20: Butterfly Hill RepeatsX12
April 27: 3(800, 1600) keep the mile splits the same
May 4: 2x (1600, 800, 400)
May 11: 2x (2x 400, 4x200 walk or easy jog to start, regroup, 1200)
May 18: 8X 800
May 25: Butterfly Hill RepeatsX12
June 1: 4X 2000 keep same intervals
June 8: 1200, 800, 1200, 800, 1200, focus on 800’s fast
June 15: 1600, 4x400, 2x 800, 4x 200
June 22: 16X 400, to keep these as fast as possible, longer break each 4th
June 29: 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 2400
July 6: 5X 1200
July 13: Butterfly Hill Repeats, power up , fast leg turn over the waydown
July 20: 8X 800 neg split by min of :03
July 27: 800, 1600, 800, 1600, 800, 1600
August 3: 4X 400, 3X 1200, 4X400
August: 10: 5x 1mile repeat on the same interval
August: 17: 12x 400, 1600
August 24: 4x 1200 (800 - 200jog - 200fast)
August 31: 2 mile Time Trial, group up 2X800 afterwards
September 7: 16x 400, to keep these as fast as possible, longer break each 4th
September 14: 3x 2000
September 21: 2x 800, 400 very fast, 1600, 400 very fast, 800
September 28: 2-man relay, teams picked at random, each runner 10x400
October 5: 400, 200 then jog to start, 800, 200, 1200, 200, 800
October 12: 400, 800, 1600, 400, 1600, 800, 400
October 19: 16x 400, to keep these as fast as possible, longer break each 4th
October: 26: Halloween Costumes 8x 800
